This page explains what information we collect when you visit catseat.com, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We collect very little, we don’t sell any of it, and most of what we do collect is information you hand us on purpose, like your email address when you join the newsletter.

Cat Seat is run by Woman Getting Media LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“we” or “us” throughout this policy). You can reach us anytime at hello@catseat.com, and a mailing address is at the bottom of this page. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. What we collect, and how

Things you give us directly

  • Your email address and name, if you subscribe to the newsletter, download one of our free resources, or write to us.
  • Comments you leave on articles, along with the name, email, and optional website you enter on the comment form.
  • Anything else you choose to send us by email or through the contact page.

Things collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider and analytics software record some technical details about each visit: your IP address and approximate region, your browser and device type, which pages you viewed, how long you stayed, and the site that referred you. Cookies are part of this, and our Cookie Policy lists exactly which ones we use.

Things that come from third parties

Amazon reports to us, in aggregate and anonymized form, when purchases get attributed to links from our articles. Social platforms like Pinterest and Instagram share aggregate stats when you interact with our content over there. None of that arrives tied to your name.

2. What we do with it

We use this information to run and improve the site, send the newsletters and resources you’ve asked for, answer your messages, understand which articles people are reading, meet our legal obligations, and catch spam and abuse before it spreads. We don’t use it for anything beyond that, and we do not sell your personal information.

3. The specific services we use

These are the tools running on Cat Seat and what each one sees:

  • Google Analytics (installed through Google’s Site Kit plugin) measures traffic. We see aggregate page and visit counts, and nothing that identifies an individual reader.
  • Kit (formerly ConvertKit) stores the email list and sends the newsletter. Your address lives on Kit’s servers and is handled under Kit’s own privacy policy.
  • Amazon Associates: when you click one of our Amazon links, Amazon sets its own cookies on its own site to credit the referral. What happens on Amazon is governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, not this one.
  • Our web host keeps standard server logs as part of delivering the site.
  • WordPress, the software the site runs on, handles comments and the site’s basic functions.

Each of these providers publishes its own privacy policy covering its side of the work.

4. Cookies

The full cookie inventory lives on its own page so this one stays readable: see the Cookie Policy. You can limit or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.

5. Your rights and choices

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter with one click, using the link at the bottom of any email.
  • Ask what we have. Email hello@catseat.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you. For most readers that amounts to an email address at most.
  • Remove a comment you’ve posted by emailing us a link to it.
  • Block cookies in your browser settings.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we don’t sell it), and to exercise these rights without being treated differently for doing so. Email hello@catseat.com.

EU and UK residents (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing. Our lawful bases for processing are consent (the newsletter), legitimate interest (analytics and site security), and legal obligation. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6. Children

Cat Seat is written for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if you believe a child has sent us some, email hello@catseat.com and we’ll delete it.

7. How long we keep things

Newsletter addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe. Comments stay published until you ask us to take one down. Everything else is kept only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires.

8. Security

The site runs over HTTPS, and access to reader data is limited to the people who run Cat Seat. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable care with the little we hold.

9. If you’re visiting from outside the U.S.

We’re based in the United States, so information you send us is stored and processed here. U.S. data protection laws may differ from the ones where you live.

10. Changes

When we update this policy we’ll change the date at the top. If a change is significant (a new ad network, for example), we’ll also post a notice on the site or mention it in the newsletter.

11. Contact

Questions about any of this go to hello@catseat.com, or by mail to Woman Getting Media LLC, 7901 4th St N, Ste 300, St. Petersburg, FL 33702.
