We want Cat Seat to be readable and usable for everyone, including readers who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, captions, or magnification. The site is published by Woman Getting Media LLC, and accessibility decisions are made by the same small team that writes the articles, which means your feedback reaches the people who can actually fix things.

The standard we aim for

Our target is Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. We also work to support the goals of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

What that looks like in practice

  • Headings in a logical order, so screen readers can outline a page sensibly.
  • Descriptive alt text on meaningful images, including all the cat photos.
  • Color contrast that keeps text readable against its background.
  • Keyboard navigation that reaches everything, with no mouse-only dead ends.
  • Link text and form labels that say where they go and what they do.
  • Themes, plugins, and tools chosen with accessibility support in mind.

Accessibility is ongoing work, and we keep reviewing the site as standards evolve and the archive grows.

Where we fall short

Some things aren’t fully there yet. Older posts, certain interactive elements, and third-party embeds (social media posts, videos) may not meet the standard above. We’re identifying and fixing these over time, and reader reports speed that up considerably.

Third-party content

Content embedded from other companies (social embeds, affiliate widgets) is rendered by their code, not ours, so we can’t control its accessibility. Where we have a choice between providers, accessibility support is part of how we choose.

Tell us what’s not working

If something on the site doesn’t work with your device or assistive technology, email hello@catseat.com with the page address, a description of the problem, and the device or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within a few business days, and we’re glad to provide any of our content in a more accessible format on request.
