Cat Seat combines two of my biggest passions—blogging and animals—into one site that helps break down the ins and outs of having a cat, all while having fun doing it! I studied journalism at The University of Memphis and have been writing and editing since 2000, working for Rolling Stone, Mom.com, and Reader’s Digest, covering everything from music to pets and parenting. I’ve been an animal lover ever since I can remember…when I was young you could find me with a sewing kit on our kitchen counter doing surgery on my stuffed animals and making them as good as new. My first pet was a cat named Crystal, followed by a Chihuahua named Chester. My husband Cory and I adopted our cats Thelma and Louis in 2023 from our local animal rescue. I am a big believer in adopt don’t shop, and I love to donate to animal shelters such as Humane Broward, Sierra Pacific Furbabies, and Picolinis Animal Rescue.
I got my first cat, Sylvester, when I was five years old. He was a black and white cat with almost exactly the same coloring as his cartoon counterpart. And he was my best friend. I used to sleep in a sleeping bag on top of my bed when I was younger (I don’t actually know why) and every night he would crawl into it and sleep at my feet. And I’ve been a cat person since then. And like my wife and Cat Seat co-founder, Lindsay, I’ve also spent the last twenty years writing for a wide variety of publications. When we got our sibling kittens Thelma and Louis from a local Miami rescue, we realized that the world needs to get to know them! So we started CatSeat.com to share not only Thelma and Louis’ antics, but also all the things we’ve learned from having cats our whole lives as well as raising two little ones for the last three years.
Molly Weinfurter is an author and freelance writer with a BFA in Creative Writing. She has written content for various websites since 2018. While she writes about many different topics, pets is easily the niche she loves the most. When she isn’t writing, she spends a lot of time volunteering for animal organizations by fostering animals, helping out at adoption events, and spreading awareness about animal welfare. She adores cats but doesn’t currently have one of her own (maybe one day!). Instead, she has a small rescue dog named Mabel and an axolotl named Wooper.
